The awakening of the Four Seasons Hong Kong

The Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong has just completed the second phase of its hotel transformation, with two brand new F&B concepts that opened on July 15, 2021. Argo is fast becoming a staple for spirits lovers in the city and from all over the world, with a bar program carefully organized by the director of drinks Lorenzo Antinori; while the new Gallery lobby café is the perfect place to see and be seen.

With exciting new offerings, new room designs, and things we’ve always known and loved about the Four Seasons (an unbeatable spa program and an existing collection of Michelin-starred dining establishments), we’ve set ourselves aside for a fun two day stay to check it all out.

Location: 10/10

Located in Central, connected to the ifc mall and only a 7 minute walk from Hong Kong station, you are within reach of every imaginable convenience when staying at Four Seasons Hong Kong. The hotel also offers what is Hong Kong’s premier attraction par excellence, panoramic floor-to-ceiling views of Victoria Harbor, unobstructed by nearby buildings and road works. The ferry terminals are also a short walk from the hotel – making day trips to the surrounding islands has never been easier.

Design: 10/10

The mammoth task of redesigning the Four Seasons – the hotel’s first major transformation since it opened in 2005 – has been entrusted to two international design companies based in Hong Kong. Remedios Studio has given the rooms and suites a new look that reflects modernism and tradition, old and new in Hong Kong, guided by Peter Remedios’ own design philosophy. There are many details in the room that catch the eye, from the open shelves decorated with carefully selected glassware, porcelain and books, to the wooden furniture that is reminiscent of the classic lines and geometric shapes of dynasty designs. Ming.

As for the new lobby, Argo and the Gallery café, the design was carried out by AB Concept. Six new pendant lights are installed at the entrance to increase the warmth of the lobby, guiding guests seamlessly from the aisle to the reception. An elevated area, nicknamed “the stage”, is also where guests can now congregate, separated from the main reception by a set of raised steps. The Gallery, the hotel’s new lobby café, is separated by an incredible bespoke crystal divider custom-made by Czech glassmakers Lasvit, giving guests a sense of privacy while being the focal point of the new space.

The Argo Cocktail Bar has received a neoclassical makeover and has been designed to provide space flexibility to move from a cocktail bar at night to a place where people can go for breakfast. , lunch and afternoon tea. In the center of the room, of course, sits the magnificent bar area, a structural column that frames its wide range of rare liqueurs and spirits against the backdrop of the port.

Bedroom: 10/10

We stayed in the newly refurbished Grand Harbor View Suite, a corner suite that offers stunning views of Victoria Harbor and the Kowloon skyline and, in good weather, a view all the way to Stonecutters Island and the New Territories. There is only one corner suite per level, 9th to 20th floor, 732 square feet of luxury which includes a walk-in bar, spacious living room separate from the bedroom. The walk-in closet is located just behind the bed and right at the double-door entrance to the bathroom, which houses double vanities – pampering and getting ready has never been more convenient.

Perhaps our favorite space is the work table with plush leather armchairs and a reclining lounge chair. Designer Peter Remedios, aware of changing travel trends and anticipating longer stays where travelers have the option of working away from home, put a lot of attention and little details into the room to ensure that it was a space to live and enjoy. The neutral tones and matte wood finish were purposefully chosen to refer to classic Ming Dynasty styles, while everything modern and needed – high-speed internet, room controls, coffee maker – is at your fingertips.

The Four Seasons Spa is led by Tania Bardhan, whose experience in offering wellness destinations means she goes beyond traditional massages and therapies to provide clients with results-driven programs that they can benefit from. long term, such as a hugely successful sleep program and other targeted therapies like Cranial Sacral Therapy which relieves stress and tension.

Under the Wellness umbrella, you will find a series of meditation sessions, gong baths and vibration sound therapy, mindfulness workshops, and more. Bardhan herself leads the meditations – chakra meditation is great for beginners, as it will guide you through the seven chakras, use semi-precious stones as visual cues, and sing along with you.

At the spa, which overlooks the pool, you will find a range of engaging holistic healing rituals, as well as exclusive beauty treatments and massages. The Awakening Ritual is perfect for fighting stress and promoting sleep. The three-step treatment begins with a full body exfoliation, followed by a body wrap, finished with a deep massage, with ingredients like juniper essential oils (great for reducing stress levels), spirulina and wrack algae which are powerful antioxidants.

Food and drinks: 9/10

Head to the newly opened Argo for a quick welcome drink – champagne with a fun touch of gummy bears. Who knew it would be so delicious? Our favorite from the bar’s first menu, ‘Here Today, Gone Tomorrow’, is the Bark, Leaf and Love cocktail, featuring mono-floral lychee and longan honey from local beekeeping farm HK Raw Honey.

There are a large number of Michelin-starred establishments to dine at at the Four Seasons, but we chose a more informal meal at Caprice Bar, where we indulged in generous portions of French cheeses paired with fine wines, and enjoyed a little more Antinori. signature cocktails, such as the Caprice Bar Martini and the Caprice Truffle Negroni.

For lunch, we opted for the highly recommended dim sum lunch at the three Michelin star Lung King Heen with a menu prepared by Chef Chan Yan Tak. We started with a refreshing sparkling tea, followed by delicate dim sum, delicious barbecued meats, warming Chinese soup, wok-fried chicken dish, fragrant fried rice wrapped in lotus leaves, to finish. , fresh sweet soup and hot tea was served.
