Philips Romania, in collaboration with the association Viitor Plus, announces the launch of the campaign “We plant together”.
For each order over 250 lei, placed on the www.philips.robetween April 5 and September 30, 2022, the Viitor Plus association will plant a tree in the municipality of Apele Vii, in the department of Dolj, on degraded land, in the process of desertification.
“For Philips, sustainability is at the heart of our business model. When we embarked on this path of transformation, our goal was to ensure that we could apply the power of innovation we hold to make a difference for the better, for people. As a health technology leader, our goal is to improve the health and well-being of two billion people a year by 2025. We aim to grow the business responsibly and sustainably and, through Therefore, we constantly set ambitious social and environmental goals. .” – noted Daciana Tulpan, Leader of the Personal Care Division, Philips. “We plant together” is an initiative through which we want to increase the reforestation of the southern area of the country, with the support of our consumers and partners. Acting responsibly towards the planet and society is part of our DNA and I’m sure it’s the best way to add long-term value.
The trees will be planted in the municipality of Apele Vii, in the department of Dolj, on land currently in a state of degradation, in the process of desertification. The land is owned by the town hall, and the forest will be created for the benefit of the community to support local climate regulation, pollution reduction and increased resilience to extreme weather events. According to specialists from pedology, every year, more than 1000 hectares of fertile land in the south of the country turn into sand due to the negative anthropogenic impact on the environment and climate. Reforestation of land is a natural and sustainable measure to combat desertification and erosion, as trees have the ability to reverse land degradation and, therefore, turn sandy, infertile soil into healthy soil. and rich in biodiversity. Planting will take place in the fall of this year, during the period of vegetative rest. In the years following planting, maintenance work will be carried out for a period of 3 to 7 years, until the forest reaches the massive stage.
“We are happy to partner with Philips in this initiative and to build programs together through which we help communities in Romania. The departments with the greatest forest deficit are located in the south and east of the country, and the degree of afforestation in these departments is 4% for Călărași and 5% for Teleorman, Constanta and Braila. The European recommended percentage is above 30% and we believe that only together, with the help of the community and the involvement of businesses, can we achieve this goal, so necessary for a healthier environment” , said Teia Ciulacufounder and president of Viitor Plus.
