Our ‘The best room in’ section offers an overview of some of the most charming, luxurious and iconic properties in the world.
There are only 49 rooms and suites in the Rosewood, Washington, DC, but you might consider not staying in any of them. This is because in addition to these rooms – which are, as you can get room service and spa services on demand) in one of the most historic and sought after areas of the city.
Whether you stay in the main building or in one of the townhouses, it’s easy to experience the best that DC has to offer. The hotel, which overlooks the scenic C&O Canal, has a lively on-site restaurant, CUT by Wolfgang Puck, a lively rooftop bar and pool, and even a lobby-level library for more intimate meetings. When you walk outside, you’re just steps away from M Street, Georgetown’s main thoroughfare, and a variety of shops, restaurants and attractions (The Exorcist steps, anyone?) who call the area home.
Here, we chat with Gabor Vida, Managing Director of Rosewood, Washington, DC, about the property’s best accommodations and what sets it apart from other offerings in the Nation’s Capital.
What do you think is the best room in the establishment and why?
In November 2020, we unveiled these townhouses, and they certainly take the top spots on my list of favorite rooms. There are four adjacent to the building on our street and two around the corner. My favorite is on South Street and has unique bay windows that take you back to the late 1700s or early 1800s when the houses were first built, but they have all been redesigned by architect Thomas Pheasant to transport the guests into modern Georgetown life. The townhouses are all similar in style and size; they are almost 1,200 square feet with a private entrance, a beautifully appointed living space and, up a flight of stairs, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area. It’s all four floors with a bedroom on the top floor, and there’s a real sense of discovery as you make your way through the unit.
How much is it per night ?
Row houses start at $ 1,500 per night.
How would you describe the guests and the atmosphere at the hotel?
Our guests are what we call influential explorers; they are looking for adventure and want to know the community. DC has so much to offer, and they experience it in a relaxed and accessible atmosphere.
What impression of the city do you hope to convey to customers?
Georgetown is such a unique neighborhood, it’s one of the most historic and charming in DC, and we have a real community feel. We’re within walking distance of the waterfront, Kennedy Center, monuments and museums, so some of the city’s best attractions are virtually on our doorstep.
Is there a local destination you would recommend to guests?
The National Mall is so beautiful, especially when you go there at night. You can see the city light up. It’s magic, there’s no better way to describe it.
